In this era of toothpastes, stories from the family elders about using natural ingredients such as salt or even ash, always sounded intriguing. As we researched substitutions to standard, fluoride-based teeth cleaning products we felt more and more drawn to the natural, age-old formulations with research backed changes for efficacy and safety. We learned how sea salt has natural cleansing properties, and when combined with other botanicals and  flavourful spearmint, it works wonders as a teeth cleaner.

We went on a journey to rediscover lost remedies and found our way to the ancient ritual of oil pulling. A form of natural mouthwash, oil pulling in Ayurveda traditionally uses a lush oil for an oral detox to clean the mouth, prevent tooth decay, and promote healthy gums. Our grandmothers taught us all about oil pulling, but we also remembered the rather unpleasant taste! So, we decided to modernise it with fresh, new flavours and Birdsong’s Oil Pulling products were born. The Botanical and Sea Salt Toothpaste - A refreshing toothpaste for sensitive teeth, but one that can be used by everyone. Our toothpaste tube is made with aluminium, which is entirely recyclable, and our ingredients are carefully chosen to avoid harmful chemicals that can damage the gums and enamel. A must have oral hygiene product free of sugar and SLS.

Oil pulling with virgin, cold-pressed coconut oil and a few all-natural additions is an ancient holistic practice which involves swishing an organic oil in your mouth before you begin the day. This helps draw out toxins, freshens the breath and cleans your teeth too. Our oil pulling mouthwash is also available in sachets with the added blend of Cinnamon Oil, Orange Oil, Lemon Oil, Peppermint Oil, and Vanilla Extract giving the oil a minty, fruity balance -  so you can always carry some along wherever you go.
